Traffic Complaints Result In Three People Being Charged With Impaired Driving

KAWARTHA LAKES-Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes OPPĀ investigated three separate traffic complaints this past week, all of which the drivers were found to be impaired according to officers.

On September 24, 2021, just after 4:00 p.m., officers received a traffic complaint on Highway 35 in Fenelon Township, from a concerned citizen regarding a driver at a local gas station.Ā Officers attended to check on the wellbeing of the driver and commenced an impaired driving investigation.

As a result Sheryl BLUNDELL, 46 years of age, of Laxton-Digby-Longford Township, has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Opioid

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on October 07, 2021.

On September 25, 2021, at approximately 3:00 p.m., officers were dispatched to another traffic complaint on Highway 7 in Emily Township. Police say the investigation determined the driver to be impaired.

Wessley KURELY, 22 year of age, of Peterborough has been charged with:

  • Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Drive motor vehicle – no licence

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on October 17, 2021.

On October 1, 2021 at approximately 4:30 a.m. on Highway 7 in OPS Township, officers received yet another traffic complaint.

Jacob GUIBORD, 25 years of age, of Oshawa has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on October 28, 2021.
