Charges Laid After Collision Involving Ambulance

CENTRE HASTINGS-One person has been charged in connection with a collision involving an ambulance and a transport truck at the intersection of Highway 7 and Highway 62 in Madoc.

On Monday, February 2, 2026, shortly after 3:00 p.m., members of the Central Hastings OPP responded to a two‑vehicle collision that resulted in two paramedics being transported to a local hospital. Both were later airlifted to a Kingston area trauma centre by ORNGE due to life-threatening injuries.

As a result of the investigation, on Monday, September 14, 2026,  a 34-year-old from Milton, was charged with the following offences:

  • Dangerous operation causing bodily harm- two counts
  • Criminal negligence cause bodily harm- two counts
  • Careless driving causing bodily harm- two counts

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on Thursday, October 1, 2026.
