Globus Theatre Offering Two Community Opportunities to Perform!

KAWARTHA LAKES-Globus Theatre has announced two unique opportunities for community members of all ages to get involved on stage this season: the launch of the Bobcaygeon Sound Collective and auditions for the annual holiday panto, Jack and the Beanstalk.

The Bobcaygeon Sound Collective
Following the resounding success of the community choir formed for Desperate to be Doris earlier this year, Globus Theatre is thrilled to introduce the Bobcaygeon Sound Collective—a full community choir along with smaller ensembles that will become a vibrant part of upcoming productions and beyond. Music Director Kelly Burrows will be assisted by John Kintare and Carly Poole in building this exciting local opportunity for people that love to sing!
The choir that accompanied Desperate to be Doris was a highlight of Globus’ 2025 season opener, showcasing the power of music to bring people together. Building on this momentum, the Bobcaygeon Sound Collective aims to be an ongoing community singing ensemble that will be featured in Globus productions and at community events around Bobcaygeon.
Artistic Director Sarah Quick shares, “We were absolutely blown away by the enthusiasm, dedication, and joy the community choir brought to Desperate to be Doris. It became clear that this was the beginning of something special. The Bobcaygeon Sound Collective will give singers an ongoing opportunity to connect with each other and with audiences, creating memories and friendships through music.”
Rehearsals will take place Monday evenings from 6:30–8:30pm at Aspira Kawartha Lakes Retirement Living, with a vocal placement and info session on Monday, Oct 6th 6:30-8:30, and rehearsals starting Thanksgiving Monday. All ages are welcome, with Quick emphasizing that, “this is a collective—so whether you’re a seasoned chorister or brand new to singing, there will be a place for you.”
Jack and the Beanstalk Auditions
Globus Theatre is also holding auditions for Jack and the Beanstalk, their traditional holiday panto which runs December 3–17. Auditions will be held on Sunday, October 5 and Monday, October 6 for young performers aged 6 and up who are eager to be part of this magical production.
“Panto at Globus has become a holiday tradition, and every year we’re amazed by the creativity, confidence, and joy that young performers bring to the stage,” says Quick. “Jack and the Beanstalk is a story full of fun and mischief, and we can’t wait to see new and returning faces join us in creating the magic.”
Officials say this is a wonderful opportunity for kids to work alongside professional actors and learn every step of bringing a story from page to stage. No experience is necessary, though priority in casting will be given to students of Globus Theatre’s School of Dramatic Art. Roles may be double cast, and performances will include both school-day matinees and public evening shows.
