Date Announced For The Inquest Into The Death Of Attila Csanyi Who Grew Up In Lindsay

KAWARTHA LAKES-Regional Supervising Coroner for West Region, Hamilton Office,Dr. Karen Schiff announced the date for the inquest into the death of Attila Csanyi

On May 2, 2020, police and paramedics responded to a call about a man found without vital signs on the roof of Jackson Square Mall in Hamilton. He was pronounced deceased after unsuccessful resuscitation efforts. On June 5, 2020, he was identified as Attila Csanyi.

Csanyl spent much of his childhood in foster care in the City of Kawartha Lakes. A recent documentary explores the struggles of Attila and his twin brother Richard who found themselves in the foster care system in Ontario, the horrific things that happened to them in one of the homes in Toronto, the death of one brother and the other’s search for answers and understanding.

Stephen Hosier produced the documentary and met Richard and Attila Csanyi in grade two.

The inquest will examine the circumstances surrounding Csanyi’s death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing further deaths.

The inquest is expected to last 14 days and hear from approximately 15 witnesses.

The inquest will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 30, 2024. Jennifer Scott will be the presiding officer and Jai Dhar will be the inquest counsel.
