PETERBOROUGH-Officers from the Peterborough County OPP charged a driver of a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) with impaired.
Police say on February 6, 2024, a call was received by the Peterborough County OPP from a business stating they were concerned that a driver of a CMV at their location, was believed to be impaired. Employees at the business were making efforts to keep the driver from leaving the property.
Officers arrived at the location where they were directed to a flatbed truck where the driver was situated behind the wheel and the vehicle was running according to police. As a result of their investigation, the driver was arrested. After the individual was arrested, police report an open container of alcohol was located within the drivers reach within the vehicle.
50-year-old John England of Peterborough was arrested and charged with operation while impaired, operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) and having care or control of a motor vehicle with liquor readily available.
The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on March 19, 2024.
