Police Looking For Suspect In Hit And Run On Highway 7 Near Peterborough

PETERBOROUGH-Peterborough County OPP officers are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect involved in a hit and run.

Officers responded to a complaint on March 28, 2023, at approximately 8:35pm. The complainant reported that an older grey Dodge pickup truck was travelling eastbound on Highway 7 near Burnham Line when it went onto the shoulder striking a pedestrian. The vehicle then left the road entering the ditch and continued into the west side of the gas station / restaurant parking lot striking the barriers according to police. The vehicle then left the scene without stopping, returning westbound towards Peterborough. The pedestrian suffered minor injuries only.

Security cameras at the gas station were able to capture an image of the vehicle which appears to be a mid 1990’s Dodge extended cab pickup truck. Police sat the vehicle would have sustained damage to the front bumper as well as possibly missing the passenger side mirror as a result of hitting the pedestrian.

Investigators are actively looking for information that may lead to the identification of the suspect. Police urge the public to call in tips on this case, or others, to the Peterborough OPP at 705-742-0401, the non-emergency line (888) 310-1122 or to Crime Stoppers.
