Police Say Charges Laid After Driver Found Asleep At The Wheel In Lindsay

KAWARTHA LAKES-The Kawartha Lakes Police received a complaint of a possible impaired driver on March 9th. Police say the caller observed a male passed out with his head on the wheel of a vehicle parked in a lot on Kent Street West in Lindsay. When officers arrived they located the vehicle, the driver was allegedly found sleeping at the wheel of the running vehicle.

During the investigation, officers say they learned the vehicle was reported stolen from Toronto and the driver was arrested. At the time of his arrest officers located cannabis on the passenger seat of the vehicle.

A 44-year-old Toronto man has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5000 and one infraction contrary to the Cannabis Control Act. The accused was held for a bail hearing on Thursday.

Kawartha Lakes Police Service no longer releases names of the accused.
