KAWARTHA LAKES-The flames could be seen for miles as a house fire on Saturday evening completely gutted a home on Concession Road 3 in Baddow.
The call came to firefighters around 5:30pm. District Chief Dave Kish says three halls responded to the blaze. No one was home at the time of the fire. The cause has not yet been determined but Kish says it is not considered suspicious.
Damage is estimated to be approximately $500,000 to the building and $100,000 in contents. Some area residents reported hearing explosions but Kish says it was merely propane tanks venting.
The three occupants of the home are staying with family according to Kish. Officials are working with the Red Cross and Victim Services to provide aid.
