Quebec Man Charged In July 11th Shooting In Peterborough

KAWARTHA LAKES-Montreal Police, acting on a Canada Wide Warrant have arrested a 19 year old male from Quebec wanted for the shooting that occurred on Dalhousie St. on July 11th, 2022.

Police say the male has been charged with Attempt murder, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a prohibited firearm, robbery using a firearm, possession of a firearm contrary to prohibition order, possession of a weapon for a dangerous person, pointing a firearm, discharging a firearm with intent, knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm and failing to comply with a release order X 6.

The male was remanded into custody and returned to Ontario by the Peterborough Police.

Officers responded to a 9-1-1 call about a shooting at a residence in the Dalhousie Street and Stewart Street area at approximately 11:00am on July 11, 2022. A male victim was taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre and then taken by helicopter to a Toronto hospital. There is no word on his condition.

Next door neighbour Kenny Collins says it happened at a known drug house and was just a matter of time. “There is fighting at all hours of the night, traffic in and out at all hours, police are always present there and nobody seems ever to be taken away,” Collins told Kawartha 411 News. “It’s a common occurrence nowadays in this area. Covid is over it’s time the police start locking people up instead of giving an undertaking to appear in court.”
