UPDATE:Officials at Caressant Care say there are now two staff cases at the home.

KAWARTHA LAKES-The Haliburton Kawartha Pine Ridge District Health Unit has declared another Coronavirus Outbreak at Caressant Care in Lindsay.

The outbreak is at the Mary Street Long Term Care Home based on a positive COVID swab of a staff member.

“We are required to isolate all residents in their room at this time. We will increase our staffing as able to facilitate the isolation of being in their rooms.” said the home on its website.

This is a 14 day period of isolation at this point.

Declaring an outbreak after one case allows the home to step up infection and prevention controls and bring in extra help if needed according to officials.

This is the third outbreak declared at the facility. A second outbreak was declared  on January 23 with one staff member testing positive on the Long Term Care side.  On the retirement side there are two positive staff cases and they remain at home in isolation at that time.

Residents began their vaccinations that same week. It’s unclear if all residents received both doses of the vaccine.

Six new cases of Coronavirus were reported in Kawartha Lakes today with 43 current, active cases.
