Vandalism causes hydro pole fire in Lindsay, knocks out power to thousands (VIDEO)

KAWARTHA LAKES-Residents who live in North Lindsay were jolted from their sleep after a hydro pole exploded into flames.

It happened just after 1am this morning on Angeline Street. Hydro one says power was knocked out to at least 2,700 homes.

Tiziana Baccega, Media Relations, Hydro One told Kawartha 411 there are clear indications it may be vandalism and is under investigation.

“Crews restored power at approximately 3:51 am by re-routing power through other lines.”

The fire department was on the scene to douse the flames.

“We appreciate everyone’s patience as they dealt with the cold and having no power.” Baccega said. “It will take some time to repair the damage but no one should lose power again.”
