Crews battle devastating fire at Stop 48 Go Karts in Kirkfield

KAWARTHA LAKES-A long running Kawartha Lakes attraction has been devastated by fire.

Kawartha Lakes Fire and Rescue crews were called to the scene at Stop 48 Go Karts in Kirkfield at approximately 4am Wednesday morning.

The home including a store area for the go-kart track business was destroyed. Fire crews estimate the damage to be about $480,000. Officials with the Fire Department say the business had not been operating for a couple of years, however there are conflicting reports about this.

 

Stop 48 Fire

Platoon Chief Bill Lockwood told Kawartha 411 News there were two people home at the time fo the fire and both were checked for smoke inhalation. One firefighter was taken to hospital for medical attention after suffering a health issue while on scene.

Four working stations were called in to battle the blaze. Lockwood says at this time it appears the cause of the fire is electrial but it’s still under investigation.
