KAWARTHA LAKES-Lakes:BGC Kawarthas has announce that Avalon Loube has been selected to represent the Kawarthas as a new member of BGC Canada’s 2026–27 Youth Advisory Circle.
The BGC Canada Youth Advisory Circle is comprised of ten youth leaders between the ages of 16 and 21 from across the country who have strong connections to their local BGC Clubs. Members bring their diverse experiences, perspectives and skills to provide leadership and advice on BGC Canada’s national projects and initiatives.
The Youth Advisory Circle also creates opportunities for youth to develop leadership skills, build knowledge and capacity, and connect with peers through networking, mentorship and training. By bringing together youth from across Canada, the Circle ensures that the issues, priorities and goals of young people are heard and reflected at a national level.
Officials say Avalon was one of the first youth to join the Fenelon Falls Youth Council.
Avalon shared, “I have had the honour to work with the lovely community and BGC members for many years now to help create the Loft. I worked with youth to gather ideas for programming, ensuring creative and learning desires are met; brought up issues facing my community, such as food insecurity and need for menstrual hygiene products to tailor the youth service to its people; and spoken at multiple different events such as the 100 women to raise over $15,000 for The Loft! I am always grateful to see youth thriving and take great effort to empower them.”
She has become a familiar presence at community events and through her work at Fenelon Falls’ Maryboro Lodge Museum. Her leadership was recognized at BGC Kawarthas’ 2026 Youth Awards, where she received the Club Spirit Award. Avalon also served as the event’s keynote speaker, captivating the audience with a powerful message about youth empowerment and the importance of listening to young people.
“I am inspired by Avalon each time we connect,” said Carly Veitch, Manager of Youth Services. “She is compassionate, wise beyond her years, and is born to lead. I’ve seen firsthand how much she cares about Fenelon Falls and her peers in her community. We couldn’t be prouder to see her take this next step and bring the voices of Kawartha Lakes youth to a national level.”
In October, she will be travelling with a Club staff to Calgary, Alberta for an in-person orientation. Avalon will serve as BGC Kawarthas’ first-ever representative on BGC Canada’s Youth Advisory Circle, bringing the perspectives and experiences of youth in Kawartha Lakes to a national audience.
