ONTARIO-The Correctional Service of Canada says Mason Jenkins has escaped from the minimum-security unit at Collins Bay Institution in Kingston, Ontario.
Jenkins was convicted of shooting and killing his younger sister in 1998 and was sentenced in 2001 to life in prison with no chance of parole for 25 years.
Jenkins had preciously been granted absences to attend his grandmother and fathers funerals even though the Parole Board had found him at low to moderate risk to reoffend.
It is unclear when or why he was moved to a minimum security facility.
