ONTARIO-The Ontario government joined Sanofi, a global biopharmaceutical company, to announce the official inauguration of their new $925 million vaccine manufacturing facility at the Connaught Campus in North York.
At 263,000 square feet, the Charles Best building stands as the largest manufacturing mandate of its kind for Sanofi’s Canadian operations and will serve as the central hub for manufacturing, formulation, filling and packaging of the company’s Fluzone High-Dose Influenza Vaccine for adults aged 65 years and older, creating 300 new, good-paying jobs.
“We’re delivering on our plan to make Ontario the most competitive place to invest, create jobs and do business,” said Doug Ford, Premier of Ontario. “This plan has brought in over $235 billion in investments, including the one we are celebrating today, creating more than one million new jobs for Ontario workers. I want to thank all our partners at Sanofi for their vote of confidence in Ontario and our world-class workers.”
First announced in 2021, the Charles Best facility builds on Sanofi’s footprint within Ontario, which already includes a full spectrum of research and development (R&D), manufacturing, clinical trials, regulatory, distribution and commercial operations. Supported by a $55 million investment from the Province of Ontario, the facility marks a critical opportunity for Ontario’s domestic biomanufacturing capacity, reinforcing its leadership in both seasonal vaccine production and future pandemic response efforts.

Building on the company’s 2024 announcement and recent expansion of their Toronto AI Centre of Excellence, Sanofi’s total investment in Ontario now exceeds $2 billion, with more than 550 new high-value jobs created between the three projects.
