KAWARTHA LAKES-As youth hockey season gets underway and sports organizations across our region prepare for a new year, CMHA HKPR will be offering two new training opportunities designed specifically for youth sports.
While especially relevant as hockey season begins, these trainings are valuable for all sports and all levels of participation, from recreational programs to competitive sport.
These new sessions include:
Mental Performance Strategies for Youth Sports
Help athletes build confidence, focus, resilience, and emotional regulation through practical mental performance strategies. Participants will learn techniques such as goal setting, visualization, positive self-talk, and stress management that can be applied immediately in practices and competition. A great sessions for coaches or athletes!
Checking In, Not Just Coaching On
Designed for coaches working with youth athletes, this session focuses on recognizing signs of mental health challenges, building trust, having supportive conversations, and understanding when and how to connect athletes with additional support.
These affordable, practical sessions help create stronger teams, healthier athletes, and more supportive sport environments.
With extensive experience delivering mental health and performance-focused training across the hockey community, Jack has worked with organizations including the Peterborough Petes, Oshawa Generals, Kingston Frontenacs, Wenatchee Wild, the former Belleville Bulls, the OHL Coaches Conference, and the Ontario Hockey Association, among many others.
