PETERBOROUGH-Darlene M. of Cavan checked her tickets on her birthday and discovered she’d won $16 million in the Gold Ball Draw on May 30, 2026.
“I checked it using the OLG app and ran inside the house to tell my sister right away,” the 63-year-old recalled while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to collect her windfall. “I had to make sure what I was seeing was real. I was shocked!”
“It’s hard to wrap my head around this,” Darlene continued. “I shared the news with the rest of my family, and they were all also in shock and disbelief.”
The retiree plans to put her winnings toward paying some bills, purchasing a new truck, and helping her children purchase a home. “I’d also like to support animal welfare initiatives that are important to me,” she concluded.
The winning ticket was purchased at Giant Tiger on Lansdowne Street West in Peterborough.
