One Person Killed, Two Police Officers Injured In Multi-Vehicle Collision On Highway 401

ONTARIO-One person is deceased and two police officers injured following a collision on Highway 401 in Pickering.

On Sunday, April 26, 2026, at approximately 2.40 a.m., officers from the Toronto Detachment –Highway Safety Division (HSD) of the OPP responded to reports of a to a two-vehicle collision involving a pickup truck and a passenger vehicle on the eastbound collector lanes of Highway 401 near Westney Road in Pickering.

The driver of the passenger vehicle, a 38-year-old was pronounced deceased at the scene.

At approximately 4:25 a.m., a secondary collision occurred involving a passenger vehicle and a police cruiser in the same area. Two officers were transported to hospital with serious but non-life threatening or life altering injuries.

All eastbound lanes of Highway 401 at Whites Road are closed for investigation, with assistance from OPP Technical Collision Investigators and a Reconstructionist.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage from the area at the time of the incident is asked to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
