KAWARTHA LAKES-A local resident has been arrested and faces multiple charges after the OPP Peterborough/Northumberland Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) officers executed a warrant at a location in Trent Lakes.
Police say officers began investigating in April of 2026 in relation to an individual suspected of being in possession of firearms that was known to be prohibited from possessing any.
On April 8, 2026, members of the OPP Peterborough/Northumberland CSCU attended an address on Bessie Avenue in the Municipality of Trent Lakes and made contact with the accused who was immediately placed under arrest. Police say the accused was searched and Cocaine was located.
Officers entered the building to execute the warrant and located one firearm that had been stored in a careless manner according to police. Police say officers furthered their search locating 52 other long rifles along with various assorted ammunition and a further quantity of Cocaine.

Upon completion of their search, officers say they located and seized:
• 53 long rifles
• Various ammunition
• Ammunition reloader devices
• 278 grams of Cocaine
• Digital scales
• Cell phones
• Over $5,000 in Canadian currency
39-year-old Joshua Fawcett of Trent Lakes, ON., was arrested and charged with:
• Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a Prohibition Order – three counts
• Careless storage of firearms, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
• Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine
• Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000
The accused was held for Bail to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough.
