Crown Drops Assault Charges Against Lindsay Man Who Confronted Armed Intruder

KAWARTHA LAKES-A Lindsay man charged with assault last summer has had all charges against him withdrawn.

44-year-old Jeremy McDonald was charged with aggravated assault and assault with a weapon following a confrontation with an intruder on August 18.

At the time police said they were called to an apartment at 3:20 a.m. after the tenant, McDonald, awoke to find an intruder in his apartment. According to reports the intruder had a crossbow while Mcdonald reportedly grabbed a knife.

Michael Kyle Breen, the alleged intruder, sustained life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to a Toronto hospital.

Citing no reasonable prospect for conviction, the charges against McDonald were dropped today in a Lindsay court room.

Breen faces four charges in connection with the incident, including possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and breaking and entering.
