PETERBOROUGH-An Ajax resident is facing charges after being stopped by the OPP on Highway 7 north of highway 115.
On Friday February 26, 2026, just before 11:00pm, an officer from the Peterborough County OPP detachment was dispatched to a traffic complaint for a vehicle that had just exited highway 115. The officer located the vehicle on Highway 7 north of Highway 115. Police say the officer observed the driving to be similar to what had reported by the caller and as a result conducted a traffic stop. The driver of the vehicle was arrested and transported to the Peterborough County OPP detachment for further testing.
37-year-old Devon Ablett of Ajax, ON., was arrested and charged with;
• Operation while impaired
• Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80+)
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on March 31, 2026 and had his driver’s licence suspended for 90-days, and their vehicle impounded for seven days.
