NORTHUMBERLAND-Members of the Northumberland OPP have laid another impaired driving charge in Hamilton Township.
On Monday February 2, 2026, at approximately 4:40 a.m., officers received a call regarding a vehicle that was stuck in a snowbank at a location on Division Street. Police say an officer arrived on scene and observed a black 4 door sedan with its front wheel lodged in the snowbank with a female was found slouched over in the driver’s seat. Upon speaking with the driver police suspected the individual had been consuming alcohol. The driver was taken into custody and transported to a near by OPP detachment where investigative testing was conducted which resulted in the driver registering over three times the legal limit according to policce.
As a result of the investigation, 44-year-old Miranda Benoit of Colborne Ont. was charged with the following Criminal Code offences:
·      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on February 25, 2026.
