Charges Laid And Vehicle Impounded After “Numerous” Complaints From The Public

KAWARTHA LAKES-Over the last several weeks, the Kawartha Lakes Police Service says it has received numerous complaints about a white Ford SUV involved in thefts from vehicles in several neighbourhoods in Lindsay and Bobcaygeon.

Police say two male suspects were working together, checking driveways for unlocked vehicles, which they would enter to steal items.

At around 10:00 p.m. on January 25th, police received a call regarding a suspicious vehicle in the area of McLaughlin Road and Denfield Road. Reports indicated that a white Ford SUV was driving up and down streets in the area, following a male who was checking unlocked vehicles in driveways. The pair were confronted and fled the area but were quickly located by responding officers and placed under arrest.

A 61-year-old male and a 37-year-old male, both from Lindsay, were charged with Trespass by Night. Both were held in custody to await a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay.

The vehicle used in the offence has been impounded.
