Driver Reportedly Tests Almost Three Times The Legal Limit After Traffic Stop In Lindsay

KAWARTHA LAKES-A 55-year-old Lindsay man has been charged with Impaired Operation following a traffic investigation on January 24.

At approximately 9:00 p.m., an officer on routine patrol observed a vehicle attempting to back out of a driveway on William Street North. The vehicle drove off the driveway, crossed the sidewalk, and became stuck several times in nearby snowbanks according to police.

Police say a traffic stop was conducted, during which the driver failed an approved screening device test. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Kawartha Lakes Police Service.

The accused provided breath samples to a qualified breath technician, which were found to be almost three times the legal limit.

He was charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired — alcohol and drugs
  • Operation While Impaired — blood alcohol concentration 80 plus
  • Drive Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Alcohol
  • Drive Vehicle or Boat with Cannabis Readily Available

The vehicle the accused was operating was impounded, and his driver’s licence was suspended.

He was later released from custody with a future court date.
