Fenelon Falls Residents Hoping To Get “Home Town” To Their Town

KAWARTHA LAKES-A group of local residents is hoping to get HGTV’s Home Town Takeover to Fenelon Falls.

In September HGTV announced a nationwide call for Canadians to show their small-town pride and nominate their community to be featured in the new Canadian original series Home Town Takeover Canada, set to premiere in 2026/winter 2027.

Home Town Takeover Canada says it is on a mission to spark a nationwide small town revitalization movement, starting with one special town. Inspired by the success of three seasons in the U.S., the new Canadian series will shine a light on a Canadian small town facing real challenges and give it the boost it needs to get back on its feet.

“We’re excited to celebrate and showcase the resilience, heart and deep sense of community rooted in small towns across our country,” said Kale Stockwell, Head of Original Programming, Rogers Sports & Media. “Home Town Takeover Canada will not only revitalize one special town but also share the stories of the people who make the selected town so unique.”

Home Town Takeover Canada will see support from HGTV stars Ben and Erin Napier (Home TownHome Town Takeover) along with fellow Canadian designers and builders all contributing to make a big impact.

HGTV is looking for a Canadian small town that has a population of 20,000 or fewer and is asking for submissions to include photos and videos of the areas in the community that need the most love, whether it be public parks, main streets, gathering places or changemakers’ homes.

Fenelon Falls lead organizer, Nancy L’Estrange says the group has been working hard to gather information and photos for its bid and they are planning a big shout out this weekend!

“It’s my love for this town that I’ve taken this on and I’ve had tremendous help from so many great people in this adventure.” L’Estrange told Kawartha 411 News.  “We are producing a 7 minute video on why we love Fenelon Falls to submit and at the end of the video is the shout out asking HGTV to come to Fenelon Falls.”

Residents are asked to meet in front of the iconic Fenelon Marquee sign by the locks at 2:45 pm. on Saturday, October 25.

“We are hoping 100’s will show up to be videos by a drone. We have signs and banners.  The fire department and fire truck will be here as well. We are closing down water street for  safety reason.” L’Estrange told Kawartha 411 News.
