Impaired Driving Charges Laid After Collision In North Kawartha Township

PETERBOROUGH COUNTY-One person has been charged with impaired driving after the OPP received a call regarding a single vehicle collision.

On May 13, 2025, just prior to 12:00pm, Peterborough County OPP Officers were dispatched to a report of a collision that took place on McFadden Road in North Kawartha Township. The complainant advised there was a vehicle that had gone in the ditch near their location. Officers arrived on scene and located the driver who was arrested shortly after.

29-year-old Austin Collings of Apsley, ON., was arrested and charged with;

·      Operation while impaired

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Fail to surrender insurance card

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90-days, and their vehicle impounded for seven days and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on June 24, 2025
