Hamilton Resident Charged With Impaired Driving After Rollover Near Peterborough

PETERBOROUGH-The Peterborough County OPP charged a Hamilton man with impaired driving after receiving a call regarding a single vehicle collision.

On May 6, 2025, just after 6:30pm, Peterborough County OPP Officers were dispatched to a report of a collision that took place on Nassau Road in Douro-Dummer Township. Police say upon arrival, officers observed a single vehicle that had rolled over coming to rest on its side. Officers spoke with the driver after having minor injuries assessed by EMS. After a brief conversation, a demand was read to the driver to submit to an Approved Screening Device (ASD) test. The driver complied with the demand and provided a sample of their breath resulting in a reading of ‘FAIL’ at which point the driver was arrested according to police.

63-year-old John Magnan of Hamilton – Dundas, ON., was arrested and charged with;

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90-days, and their vehicle impounded for seven days and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on June 10, 2025
