Northumberland OPP Investigating Serious Collision On Highway 401

NORTHUMBERLAND-Officers from the Northumberland OPP are investigating a serious collision on Highway 401.

On April 20, 2025, just before 7:00 p.m., officers responded to a collision on Highway 401, near Newtonville Road, in the Municipality of Port Hope. Police say two vehicles were involved with one driver air-lifted to Toronto-area trauma centre with life-threatening injuries.

The eastbound lanes of Highway 401 between Newtonville Road and Service Centre Road were closed for several hours while the OPP Technical Collision Investigators and Reconstructionists assisted with the investigation.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage is asked to contact the Northumberland OPP at 1-888-310-1122. You can also provide information anonymously by contacting Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). When you contact Crime Stoppers, you stay anonymous, and you never have to testify.
