KAWARTHA LAKES-Northern Kawartha Lakes and Fenelon Falls are under a Snow Squall Watch.
Environment Canada says snow squalls are possible today with local snowfall accumulations of 25 to 50 cm and very poor to near zero visibility at times in heavy snow.
Beginning near noon and continuing through tonight snow squalls off Georgian Bay are expected to move into the area near noon and persist through tonight. At this time, the axis of highest snowfall amounts is expected to extend from near Parry Sound to Washago. Travel may be hazardous due to sudden changes in the weather. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow.
officials say road closures are possible. Public Safety Canada encourages everyone to make an emergency plan and get an emergency kit with drinking water, food, medicine, a first-aid kit and a flashlight.
