KAWARTHA LAKES- City of Kawartha Lakes OPP took two alleged impaired drivers off the roads this weekend.
Officers entered into an impaired driving investigation on November 03, 2024 following a call for service regarding the motor vehicle. At approximately 4:12 pm, officers responded to a call for service on Ski Hill Road just south of Omemee.
John Jones, 82-year-old of Scarborough, was charged with:
- Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration over 80
- Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs
The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay at a later date. The motor vehicle was towed and impounded for 7 days and the drivers license was suspended for 90 days.
On November 1 officers entered into an investigation following an interaction during a RIDE program. Police say at approximately 10:30 pm, while conducting a RIDE program a motor vehicle entered into the RIDE at Hwy 35 near Towers Road.
Henry Oppers, 76-year-old of Janetville, was charged with Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration over 80.
The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay at a later date. The motor vehicle was towed and impounded for 7 days and the drivers license was suspended for 90 days.
Police say “If you plan on drinking or consuming drugs, plan to not drive. Instead, arrange for a designated driver, take a taxi or public transit, or come up with another plan that takes impaired driving out of the picture.”
