PETERBOROUGH-A 32-year-old Whitby man, bound by two previous life-time weapons prohibition orders, is facing a number of new charges after a targeted home invasion Wednesday night according to police. Two other suspects are being sought by police.

At approximately 9:50pm on October 30, 2024, officers received a 9-1-1 call about three males reportedly carrying guns and wearing masks entering a residence in the King Street and Bethune Street area. Officers with the Emergency Response Team were on general patrol in the area and arrived to see two men fleeing the residence. An officer attempted to make a gunpoint arrest; however, the two men took off in different directions. A third man wearing a mask came out of the residence and officers attempted a gunpoint arrest. The man charged officers and after a short struggle he was arrested and taken into custody. During a search of the suspect after arrest, officers lreportedly ocated a loaded firearm.
No one in the residence was injured.
Officers conducted a search of the area and a K9 track for the other two suspects, but they were not located.
As a result of the investigation, a 32-year-old Whitby man was arrested and charged with:
- Carrying Concealed weapon
- Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
- Possession of loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
- Break, Enter a place – with intent to commit indictable offence
- Disguise with Intent
- Assault with intent to resist arrest X2
- Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order X2
Police say the accused is currently bound by two life-time weapons prohibition orders stemming from previous convictions resulting in his incarceration related to trafficking controlled substances, human trafficking and possession of firearms.
No name was released.
The accused is also bound by a conditional sentence order to keep the peace and be of good behaviour, house arrest and to not possess any weapons as defined by the Criminal Code of Canada.
The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, October 31, 2024.
