KAWARTHA LAKES-City of Kawartha Lakes OPP began an impaired driving investigation on October 4, 2024, following a single motor vehicle collision in Mariposa Township.
At approximately 3:57 p.m., officers responded to Port Hoover Road, Mariposa Township, for a single motor vehicle collision along with members from Kawartha Lakes Fire Service and Kawartha Lakes Paramedics. Police say the driver was not injured and through investigation was arrested for impaired driving offences.
37-year-old Whitney Gallant of Little Britain, was charged with:
- Operation While Impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Operation While Impaired Blood Alcohol Concentration over 80
- Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available
- Disobey Stop Sign – Fail to stop
The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay at a later date. The motor vehicle was towed and impounded for 7 days.
“If you plan on drinking or consuming drugs, plan to not drive. Instead, arrange for a designated driver, take a taxi or public transit, or come up with another plan that takes impaired driving out of the picture.”said police.
