PETERBOROUGH-A 49-year-old Peterborough man who was on probation is facing new charges after an incident early Thursday morning.
At approximately 12:15am on May 30, 2024, officers were called to a residence about an unwanted male who did not live there. Upon arrival, officers located the suspect in the building and while trying to escort him out the man allegedly resisted and shoved one of the officers into a bank of mailboxes. Police say the man continued to resist, and an officer deployed their Conducted Energy Weapon to take the man into custody.
As a result, a 49-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with Assault a Peace Officer and Fail to Comply with Probation Order.
The accused is currently bound by a probation order with the following condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. No name was released.
The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, May 30, 2024.
