Flash Freeze Warning Issued For Northern Kawartha Lakes

KAWARTHA LAKES-A Flash Freeze Warning has been issued for northern Kawartha Lakes including Fenelon Falls and Balsam Lake Park.

Officials say temperatures are forecast to fall rapidly this afternoon.

Ponding water, slush, and any falling precipitation will freeze as the temperature drops which could result in sudden icy conditions on roads and walkways.

A dramatic change in temperatures is expected this afternoon with the passage of a sharp cold front. Temperatures are expected to go from well above freezing to below freezing within a few hours. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots will become icy, slippery and hazardous.

A Special Weather Statement remains in effect for all of Kawartha Lakes and Peterborough.

Officials say a sharp cold front with strong winds and a sudden temperature drop is expected later today with northwesterly winds gusting 70 to 80 km/h.

Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. To report severe weather, send an email to [email protected] or tweet reports using #ONStorm.
