KAWARTHA LAKES-A 21-year-old Omemee man is facing an impaired driving charge after being stopped at a RIDE check in Peterborough early Saturday morning.
At approximately 2:10am on December 16, 2023, officers conducting a RIDE check say they noticed a vehicle drive aggressively around a corner and then slow significantly. Â The vehicle was stopped as part of the RIDE check and the driver tested for impairment.
As a result, a 21-year-old Omemee man was arrested and charged with Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The accused was issued a 90-day license suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment and was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court January 9, 2024.

The Peterborough Police Service conducted RIDE Checks both Friday, December 15, 2023 and Saturday, December 16, 2023. In all, 575 vehicles were checked, 36 tests were administered and in addition to the above impaired arrest; one warning with a three-day license suspension was issued.
