PETERBOROUGH-The Peterborough Police Services Traffic Unit has an update in connection with a fatal collision in March 2023 involving a three-year-old girl.
After a 5-month investigation, a 43-year-old Peterborough woman has been charged with:
- Careless driving causing bodily harm or death (Highway Traffic Act – Careless driving causing bodily harm or death (130)(3) Every person is guilty of the offence of driving carelessly who drives a vehicle or street car on a highway without due care and attention or without reasonable consideration for other persons using the highway and who thereby causes bodily harm or death to any person. 2017, c. 26, Sched. 4, s. 17.)
At approximately 9:00am on Thursday, March 23, 2023, officers were called to a motor vehicle collision. Police say a vehicle went off the road and struck a 3-year-old girl in the driveway of the residence. The child was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries and has since succumbed to those injuries. No one else was injured in the collision.
The accused is scheduled to appear in court September 25, 2023.
