KAWARTHA LAKES- Two people are facing multiple charges after a Kawartha Lakes Police officer on patrol observed a male known to be wanted by police in the passenger seat of a vehicle travelling in the area of Angeline Street North and St Joseph Road in Lindsay on August 15 at approximately 8:40 pm.
The officer conducted a traffic stop and while speaking with the occupants of the vehicle police say the passenger provided a false name to police. The male was arrested and allegedly found to be in possession of a quantity of cash and 99 grams of cocaine according to police. During the investigation, the police say officers also seized, 37 grams of suspected fentanyl, a shotgun, an air-soft handgun and shotgun ammunition.
As a result of the investigation, two males have been charged with the following:
29-year-old Dalton Walker of Lindsay:
- Careless use, storage, handling, transport of firearms
- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon
- Transport firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition in a careless manner
- Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition for dangerous purpose
- Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm
- Possession of prohibited/restricted firearm with ammunition
- Occupant of Motor Vehicle knowing there was firearm
- Possession of a firearm knowing serial number has been tampered with
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000.00
- Tampering with serial number of a firearm
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Schedule I Substance x2
Walker will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located at 440 Kent Street West in Lindsay on September 14, 2023.
29-year-old Lincoln Fortier of Lindsay:
- Obstruct peace officer
- Careless use, storage, handling, transport of firearms
- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon
- Transport firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition in a careless manner
- Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition for dangerous purpose
- Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm
- Possession of prohibited/restricted firearm with ammunition
- Occupant of Motor Vehicle knowing there was firearm
- Possession of a firearm knowing serial number has been tampered with
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000.00
- Tampering with serial number of a firearm
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Schedule I Substance X2
- Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order X2
Fortier was held in police custody for a bail hearing.
