Impaired Driving Charges Laid After Traffic Stop In Fenelon Township

KAWARTHA LAKES-City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) entered into an impaired driving investigation following a traffic stop which resulted in one driver being arrested for impaired operation.

On July 15, 2023 just after midnight officers on patrol in Fenelon Township on Chambers Road conducted a traffic stop and arrested and charged with the following offences:

James Kempt, 33 years old from Peterborough was charged with operation while Prohibited and Operation while Impaired – blood alcohol concentration over 80.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay at a later date and the motor vehicle was impounded for 45 days.

“If you plan on consuming drugs or alcohol please arrange a safe ride home. If you suspect someone to be operating a motor vehicle while impaired please call 9-1-1.” said police
