Oshawa Man On Probation Facing Charges After Police Seize Over $700,000 In Illicit Drugs In Lindsay

KAWARTHA LAKES-A 29-year-old Oshawa man who is on probation is facing charges after an incident early this morning in Lindsay.

At approximately 4:00am on Friday June 9, 2023, Kawartha Lakes Police responded to a disturbance call at a residence in the area of Russell Street and Sussex Street in Lindsay. The caller reported a guest had left the residence, taking property that did not belong to him. Officers searched the area, locating the suspect a short distance away. Police say the male was found in possession of stolen property and placed under arrest. Police allege he provided a false name and was found in possession of over $700,000 worth of drugs including:

  • Cocaine – 595 grams
  • Methamphetamine – 565 grams
  • Heroin – 12 grams
  • Fentanyl – 1.6 kilograms

As a result of the investigation,  29-year-old Shimon James of Oshawa was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking- Methamphetamine
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking- Heroin
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking- Fentanyl
  • Obstruct Peace Officer
  • Theft over $5000
  • Fail to comply with probation order

The accused was held for a bail hearing and will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice, located at 440 Kent Street West in Lindsay.
