Drive-Thru Customer Charged With Being Four Times Over The Legal Alcohol Limit

KAWARTHA LAKES-A drive-thru customer is facing impaired driving charges after Kawartha Lakes Police Service was called about someone falling asleep behind the wheel.

On Friday, May 26, 2023 at 6pm, officers were called to a Kent Street West drive-thru after a patron, who was falling asleep behind the wheel crashed into a pole according to police. When officers arrived they report the driver was unresponsive in the driver’s seat with the vehicle running with a number of empty alcohol containers were observed inside the vehicle.

Police say he was placed under arrest and transported to the police station for a breath test, resulting in a blood-alcohol level over four times the legal limit.

As a result of the investigation, a 26 -year-old Port Perry man has been charged with operation while impaired – drug and alcohol and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

The accused will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice, located at 440 Kent Street West in Lindsay on July 6, 2023.
