Three Repeat Offenders Charged By Kawartha Lakes Police Over The Weekend

KAWARTHA LAKES-Kawartha Lakes Police Service officers spent the weekend arresting repeat offenders.

On Friday, March 31, 2023, at approximately 9:10 pm an officer on patrol observed a vehicle as it entered and parked in a lot on Lindsay Street South. Police say when the driver exited the vehicle the officer observed signs of impairment. As a result of an investigation, the driver was placed under arrest for impaired driving. Police say further investigation revealed the driver was suspended. As a result, a 37-year-old Lindsay man has been charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and drug and one Highway Traffic Act infraction for driving while under suspension. The accused was released and will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located at 440 Kent Street West in Lindsay on May 11, 2023.

Police say they received multiple calls to a Melbourne Street East residence for a man causing a disturbance on Sunday April 2, 2023, at 11:20pm.

Upon arrival, officers located the male yelling in the street and placed him under arrest for causing a disturbance. At the time of his arrest the male was found to be breaching a condition of his probation order.  As a result of the investigation, a 30-year-old Lindsay man has been charged with causing a disturbance and fail to comply with probation order. The accused was released and will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located at 440 Kent Street West in Lindsay on May 11, 2023. 

On Sunday April 2, 2023, at approximately 2:50pm officers were called to a Kent Street West business after store staff reported they observed a male conceal merchandise in a reusable shopping bag and leave without paying. The male exited the store, entering another business where he was witnessed concealing more items before leaving according to police. Officers located the male a short distance away and placed him under arrest.

As a result of the investigation, a 44-year-old Lindsay man has been charged with two counts of theft under $5000, two counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 and two counts of breach of probation. The accused was released and will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located at 440 Kent Street West in Lindsay on May 11, 2023.
