OPP Investigating Fatal Crash On Highway 7 This Morning

PETERBOROUGH–Peterborough County OPP and emergency crews were called to the scene of a fatal motor vehicle collision that occurred on Highway 7 west of Country Road 50 this morning.

A head-on collision involving a westbound tractor-trailer and an eastbound pick-up truck occurred at approximately 9:00am. Two occupants of the pick-up truck have been pronounced deceased. A third occupant of the pick-up truck has been transported to a Toronto area hospital with life-threatening injuries. No other injuries were reported at the time of the collision.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation. Highway 7 was closed between County Road 50 and County Road 30 while members trained in collision reconstruction measure and documented the scene.

Anyone who may have witnessed or has video/dash camera footage of the collision and has not spoken with police is asked to contact the Peterborough County OPP Detachment at 1-888-310-1122.
