KAWARTHA LAKES-The City of Kawartha Lakes OPP executed a search warrant that resulted in the seizure of guns and the arrest of two individuals, one of whom was wanted, in Bobcaygeon.
During the early morning of February 15, 2023, the City of Kawartha Lakes OPP Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), with the assistance from members of the Emergency Response Team (ERT), Canine Unit and Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), executed a search warrant at a residence in Bobcaygeon according to police.
Two people were located and arrested, including one who police say was wanted for multiple offences. Officers also seized ammunition, a prohibited handgun, an imitation handgun and a 12-gauge shotgun.
The following individuals were arrested and charged:
Mitchell DUFFY, 35 years of age, of Bobcaygeon was charged with:
- Driving While Prohibited
- Unauthorized Possession of Non-restricted Firearm
- Unauthorized Possession of Prohibited Firearm
- Carless Storage of Firearm – two counts
- Failure to Comply with Undertaking
Aliza HOTCHKIN, 40 years of age, of Bobcaygeon was charged with:
- Unauthorized Possession of Non-restricted Firearm
- Unauthorized Possession of Prohibited Firearm
- Carless Storage of Firearm – two counts
The accused are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay at a later date.
