Heavy Rainfall And Strong Winds Expected Today And Tonight

KAWARTHA LAKES-Environment Canada has issued a Special Weather Statement warning of heavy rainfall and strong winds.


Special weather statement in effect for:

  • Apsley – Woodview – Northern Peterborough County
  • Fenelon Falls – Balsam Lake Park – Northern Kawartha Lakes
  • Lindsay – Southern Kawartha Lakes
  • Peterborough City – Lakefield – Southern Peterborough County

Rain, at times heavy today and tonight. Total rainfall amounts of 15 to 25 mm.
Southwesterly winds gusting 60 to 70 km/h. Ending overnight or early Friday morning.

Rain will continue today and taper to showers through the evening. Strong southwesterly winds will develop this evening and diminish overnight or early Friday morning.

Travel conditions may become hazardous due to icy and slippery roads and walkways.

High winds may toss loose objects or cause tree branches to break. Isolated utility outages are possible.

Localized flooding may occur in areas of poor drainage.
