Two People Charged With Impaired Driving On Sunday Morning In Lindsay

KAWARTHA LAKES-Two people are facing impaired driving charges from two separate investigations on Sunday morning. 

On Sunday January 29, 2023 at 1:20 am while on patrol a Kawartha Lakes Police constable stopped a vehicle on Division Street in Lindsay, in order to investigate a traffic infraction. While speaking with the driver the officer said he noticed signs of impairment. The driver provided a breath sample into an approved screening device and failed.

The driver was placed under arrest for impaired driving. 38-year-old James Massey of Fenelon Twp has been charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs, operations while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) and one Highway Traffic Act infraction.

Approximately three hours later, at 4:39 am, an officer observed a vehicle travelling without headlights activated and visibility obstructed by snow. The officer conducted a traffic stop on Dyana Drive in Lindsay. Speaking with the driver the officer noticed signs of impairment and placed him under arrest according to police. As a result of an investigation, 30-year-old Robert Carter of Bobcaygeon has been charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs, operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), failure to comply with undertaking X2, theft of credit card, possession of credit card, six Highway Traffic Act infractions and one Liquor Licence Control Act infraction.

The accused will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice, located at 400 Kent Street West in Lindsay on March 9, 2023.
