Arrest Made In Stabbing In Lindsay On September 20th

KAWARTHA LAKES-City of Kawartha Lakes Police officers have made an arrest in relation to a stabbing in Lindsay on September 20, 2022.  

On September 29, 2022, Kawartha Lakes Police arrested 47-year-old Ronald Fitzgerald of Lindsay. He has been charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Tuesday September 20th at 3:19am, officers were called to a residence on Lindsay Street South for the report of a stabbing. Police say throughout the evening the suspect had attended the residence and confronted the victim multiple times, causing him to flee the residence. The suspect located the victim nearby and engaged in a physical confrontation which led to the victim being stabbed multiple times according to police. The victim was transported to the Ross Memorial Hospital with serious injuries. Police say it appears to be a targeted incident and there is no risk to public safety.

The accused was held for a bail hearing and appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice, located at 440 Kent Street West in Lindsay.
