Body Of Missing Boater Recovered From Peter Lake South Of Bancroft

KAWARTHA LAKES-The OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (USRU) recovered the body of a missing boater from Peter Lake, Wollaston.

OPP officers and Wollaston Fire Department responded to a report that a canoe had capsized on Peter Lake, with one person missingĀ on August 13 shortly after 5:30 p.m.

Rescue efforts were made by a local resident who witnessed one person enter the water. Police and fire arrived on scene and continued to search the area but were unsuccessful.

On August 14, 2022, just before 12:30 p.m., members of USRU located the body of the missing boater.

The deceased has been identified as Sovann Chhay, age 39 from Ottawa.

The investigation is ongoing and a post mortem examination is being conducted.
