Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued For Lindsay And Southern Kawartha Lakes

KAWARTHA LAKES-A Severe Thunderstorm Warning is in effect for parts of Kawartha Lakes.

Severe thunderstorm warning in effect for:

  • Lindsay – Southern Kawartha Lakes

At 5:50 p.m. EDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing heavy rain. Officials say this severe thunderstorm is located 5 kilometres southeast of Janetville, moving west at 10 km/h with locally heavy rainfall of 50 mm within one hour.

Locations impacted include:
Janetville, Nestleton Station, St. Christopher and Yelverton.

Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!

Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.

The Office of the Fire Marshal and Emergency Management recommends that you take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches.
