Peterborough Woman Charged With Child Abandonment After Toddlers Reportedly Left Playing In The Street

PETERBOROUGH-A 37-year-old Peterborough woman is facing charges after an incident Sunday morning.

Officers were called by concerned residents about two toddlers playing on a street without adult supervision at approximately 12:15pm on July 17th.

Upon arrival, officers were able to locate a parent. The Kawartha-Haliburton Children’s Aid Society was also called to assist, and due to imminent safety concerns the children were removed from the home and taken to a place of safety according to police.

As a result of the investigation, a 37-year-old Peterborough woman was arrested and charged with:

  • Abandoning Child X2

The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court on August 10, 2022.

Peterborough Police no longer release the names of those charged.
