KAWARTHA LAKES-Kawartha Lakes Police Service is investigating a workplace accident in Lindsay this afternoon.
Witnesses say there was work being done to fix a broken watermain in the parking lot area of Canadian Tire when one person fell into an open pit.
Police, fire and EMS responded to the scene. District Fire Chief Dave Kish says the fire department was able to get the worker out of the hole with no problems.
Police say a 72-year-old male was transported to hospital with unknown injuries after falling into the pit.Â
The Ministry of Labour has also been called in to investigate the incident.
“An MLTSD inspector has been assigned and at this time has been unable to confirm the injuries of the worker. No other details are available at this time. The MLTSD investigation is ongoing.” said Ciara Nardelli, Ministry of Labour.Â
